Lydia's Blessing Day

We blessed Miss Liddy Lou on Easter Sunday. It was a wonderful day (both spiritually and weather-wise). Lydia wore my blessing gown. She was so beautiful in her long white dress and little bonnet! Jeremy gave a sweet and thoughtful blessing. How lucky I am to have such a wonderful and worthy priesthood holder in my home. Anyway, it was a fun day surrounded by family and love. I had a special moment with Lydia as I dressed her for her blessing. I flash forwarded to the other white dresses she will be wearing-her baptism dress, her wedding gown-and feeling awe at the task I have been given to prepare her for these ordinaces. I hope I am up to the task. I also cried a little thinking that my little girl will grow up to be a bride! Here are some pictures.Lydia, in all her finery.
Me and Liddy-doesn't she look just like me?

The Barnes Family-Jeremy, Rachel, Aidan, Wyatt and Lydia
This is my favorite picture. My Grandma and Grandpa Skousen, who came up from St. George, 2 of my very favorite people in the world, with their 3rd great grandchild and 1st great granddaughter, Lydia.

It was also Easter, and we had a huge Easter Egg Hunt with the cousins in our backyard. Seriously, there were hundreds of eggs. Here is Aidan, who definately found a huge pile, and Wyatt, who was very selective in his choice of eggs and immediately ate as he went along. What a fun day!

Aidan's 1st Soccer Game

<
Aidan had his first soccer game tonight! It was all he could talk about from the moment he woke up this morning. Aidan set out his new shorts and shin guards before he even got dressed for the day. He looked so cute in his soccer uniform. He was put on the yellow team-he seems to have a good coach and team.
It was so adorable to see all the little 4 and 5 year olds running around after the ball, really not knowing what they are supposed to do.
But it sure looked like they had fun! I know that Aidan sure did. And of course, we had to celebrate at Aidan's favorite restraunt-McDonald's! It was a very fun evening. Yea Aidan!!!!

A Thought I Like

At an Enrichment meeting the other day, we were talking about how to find the joy in everyday life. The theme of the meeting was Pres. Hinkley's quote, "In all of living, have much joy and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." A woman who was giving one of the presentations said something to the effect that she realized that we spend most of our days doing laundry and dishes, making meals and picking up messes around the house. Which is what I do spend most of my days doing, and to tell you the truth, it gets a little depressing and dull. (Oh, lets not forget the 15 dirty diapers I change a day!) Anyway, she said, on our very worst days, if we can try to keep in mind that at least we have a house to live in, food to feed to our children and clothes to dress them in, that can help to keep a healthier perspective. So, I have been keeping this in mind as a go about my daily chores and it does help! I am so thankful that Jeremy has a job that with some disapline I am able to stay home and raise these little ones. I am so grateful that he works so hard for our family. I am so thankful for these little mess makers and I love them so much-I can't imagine my life without them. This is what gets me by on hard days.

My Wonderful Wy-Guy!

I decided to center today's post around my awesome little man, Wyatt. (It's much better than complaining about the 3 inches of snow we got today-yuck!)He had tubes put into his ears today and he is doing great-like always! He bounces back from surgery so stinking fast! Poor little guy, he really has had a rough 1 year of life with all the surgeries and tests for his kidneys, and then being booted out of this postition of 'the baby', but he is always happy, always keeping us on our toes, always sweet, and always teaching us. Seriously, this boy is the happiest in the world! He loves to snuggle, just as much as he loves his freedom. Wyatt also loves to read and would be read to most the day if we had time.
He would take a bath twice a day if we would let him. He also loves to play and wrestle with Dad and Aidan. Also, he and Barky have a really sweet relationship. And he loves his sister-I can already tell that they will be special friends.
(Isn't this the sweetest picture?)
Wyatt seems to charm everyone he comes in contact with-a grin, a flash of those blue eyes and you are hooked. We love you so much Wyatt! Thanks for being our little man!

Starting the Blogger Journey. . .

Hey! Welcome to our blog! Mostly, I am hoping this will just be our perpetual journal/scrapbook of the fun and everyday life of our family and random musings of myself. So, it might be boring, but hopefully those who read it will be able to get to know us a little better. Enjoy The Barnes' Yard!!!
